Supreme Court to rule on Taxpayer Deception Act
The California Supreme Court recently heard opening statements regarding whether or not to remove the Taxpayer Deception Act from the statewide November ballot. The case should be decided within three months, and has major implications for our ability to raise funds for our public schools and communities. The Taxpayer Deception Act seeks to retroactively invalidate 15 bills signed by Governor Newson, and at least 131 measures passed locally across our state.
If this measure were to pass, it would spell financial disaster for our communities and government programs who are already struggling due to a lack of revenue. Even basic revenue measures often struggle to meet the two thirds threshold which would be required by the measure, a benchmark which is near impossible for progressive tax measures to achieve. Vote NO on the Taxpayer Deception Act to protect our communities ability to raise funds for our schools!
These California taxes could be overturned by ballot measure before state Supreme Court
