Ximena

Ximena Mandujano, Campaign Intern: Ximena is a UC Berkeley senior majoring in Sociology and minoring in Chicano/Latinx Studies. She grew up in the agriculture community in California known as the Salinas Valley, where she attended public schools in the Soledad Unified School District from K-12th grade. In college, Ximena learned that many schools near her community and within her experience lack funding. This caused her to reflect on her experience attending a public school system with a lack of funding and mis-prioritization. Ximena was a part of her town’s Youth Council, where she experienced having a seat at the table and voicing concerns that students were having. She hopes to continue similar work with Evolve, to educate the community to pass Proposition 13 reform, and to improve opportunities, resources, and educational experience in California’s public schools.
