Sarah Chavez

Sarah is a rising senior at the University of San Francisco, majoring in Politics with minors in Peace and Justice Studies and Legal Studies. Sarah has been raised within the California public education system and has witnessed firsthand the harmful effects that unstable funding, insufficient resources, and inadequate support have on students' attitudes towards education and their prospects for the future. After moving to the Bay Area, Sarah was determined to find a way to get more involved in reforming our public education system, whether that was through legislation or community organizing. She has volunteered with the California Democratic Party and worked as an Equity Scholars Intern, where she had the opportunity to teach third-grade students and assist in addressing the learning setbacks caused by the impact of COVID-19. Sarah currently works as a fellow for the Board of Supervisors, and is eager to further her engagement in local government through her time with Evolve. Sarah enjoys reading science fiction or anything with drama, trying different bakeries or coffee shops, and exploring the City!
