Nikki Crishen Evans

Nikki Crishen Evans recently graduated with her degree in Sociology from California State University, Sacramento. After many years of wanting to become a teacher, this dream was met with the unfortunate reality that students and educators were not properly supported, as the political sphere gravitated their interests towards capital/profit increases rather than the well-being of the citizens of the country. Having worked in many different school districts as a tutor or educator, there have been stark differences in these experiences and it is heartbreaking to see how funding is a determinant of academic success in most cases. Since this realization, she has found passion in reforming the educational system through policy change and funding allocation. She strongly believes that liberation can be found through education. In her free time, she enjoys cooking, watching movies, talking with friends, and hiking.
