Ableism: Technology, Labor, and Exploitation.

Lynda Otero

Lynda explores the ways in which ableism manifest in a world that is becoming increasingly technologically advanced. There are key differences between making a space accommodating and behaving in a way that is accommodating. Disability is not something to be corrected or erased by technology. Disabled community members deserve to have a seat at the table and to be involved in decisions that are made regarding disability and accommodation. Technology fails to protect all people, especially disabled people, from violence, and there are some technological advances that make the world less safe for marginalized people. We deserve a world that accommodates everyone, and communities that behave in accommodating ways.
